Abstract

1,060,636. Cleaning devices; roll dispensers. E. H. WILBRECHT. Nov. 27, 1963 [June 3, 1963], No. 46915/63. Headings A4F and A4G. A hand operated, portable cleaning device having a removable casing 20 (Figs. 1 and 8, not shown) comprises a roller 14 which is removably mounted for rotation on resilient legs 24 of a carrier 12 having a handle 26 and which is so provided on its outer surface with an adhesive material that when the casing 20 surrounding the roller 14 is removed and the roller 14 is rolled over a surface, fluff, dust, lint and/or the like is attracted to the adhesive thereby to clean the surface. The roller 14 may be formed by two co-operating flanged sections 54, 62 and provided with a slot 52 whereby a roll of adhesive sheet material such as paper having a coating on one side of cohesive latex may be mounted on projections 68 within the roller and arranged so that its ends pass through the slot 52 and around the outer surface of the roller to provide the adhesive surface. When the adhesive surface becomes dirty it is replaced by pulling fresh material from the roll through the slot and fixing it to the outer surface of the roller 14. The outer surface may alternatively be coated directly with adhesive material. The carrier 12 and casing 20 which may be of plastics or other materials are provided with guideways and guiding projections to facilitate the releasable attachment of the casing to the carrier when the device is not in use.
