Abstract

1339861 Briefs C BELPAUME 5 Jan 1972 [5 Aug 1971] 474/72 Heading A3V A pair of briefs is constructed from a Y-shaped rear panel 2, two side panels 8 and 9 and a crotch panel 10 by seaming together edges 8a and 9a of the side panels to provide a straight upright seam at the front of the briefs when worn, stitching curved edges 8b and 9b of the side panels to edges 2c and 2d respectively of the rear panel, sewing edges 8c and 9c of the side panels to an edge 10a of the crotch panel and sewing together complementary curved edges 2a and 10b of the rear and crotch panels respectively. The upper edge 2b of the rear panel is folded over and sewn to receive an elastic waistband or belt and extend around the waist encircling portion of the briefs. Concave edges 8d and 9d of the side panels define major portions of the leg openings and edges 10c and 10d of the crotch panel having V-shaped cut-outs define the minor portions. The crotch panel 10 is covered on its inner surface by a lining and an approximately diamond shaped lining 17 is also provided on the inner surface of the front of the briefs. The invention is also applicable to swimming trunks.
