Abstract

1338006 Rotary interrupters SOC ANON POUR L'EQUIPEMENT ELECTRIQUE DES VEHICULES SEV MARCHAL 28 Jan 1972 [28 Jan 1971 27 April 1971] 4028/72 Heading H1N In a rotary contact breaker operable by a cam (7), Fig. 2 (not shown), on shaft 2, the fixed and movable contacts 23, 25 Fig. 4 are mounted on at least one of a pair of pivoted jaws members 22a, 22b which are resiliently engaged about the cam shaft 2 and urged about pin 20 by a spring 27, Fig. 3, engaging over coupled auxiliary jaws 21a, 21b. In the particular arrangement, bearing surfaces 28 on the jaws 21a, 21b, 22a, 22b centre the jaw assemblies on the shaft 2 independently of the housing 1 or shaft bearing 3. Rotation of the assemblies is prevented in either direction by engagement of the pin 20 against abutment 17, Fig. 2 (not shown), on the housing 1 or against a projection 18 on a cover 11 which is yieldingly mounted on the casing 1 by a circlip 13 to cover a large aperture through which the jaw assembly 21, 22 may be readily inserted and clipped over the shaft 2 or withdrawn without dismantling the distributer cap cap assembly (not shown). Followers 24 on the contact arms 23 engage the cam (7) intermediately of faceted shaft bearing (8, 9,) engaged by the jaw assembly bearing portions 28. Felt lubrication pads 29 are provided on the jaw pairs 22a, 22b. The device is stated to be suitable for controlling vehicle ignition or fuel pump injection but in a further embodiment, may be mounted on a vehicle axle (41), Fig. 6 (not shown), in association with a frequency detector (46) whereby the stopping of the shaft (44) is detected in order to reduce the pressure in the brake system (47) to prevent wheel skid.
