1298706 Engine turning gear DUCELLIER & CIE 28 May 1970 [29 May 1969] 25669/70 Heading F1K An electric starter comprises a solenoid mechanism 15,16 a starter motor 1 and a pinion 10 mounted on a shaft 5 of the starter motor for axial movement relative to the shaft, the solenoid mechanism 15,16 and the pinion being interconnected by means of an engaging lever 23. There is further provided locking means 29 to lock the pinion in its inoperative position against axial movement relative to the shaft when the starter is inoperative, the locking means being arranged to act on a fixed pivot pin 26 about which the engaging lever is pivotally mounted. The engaging lever is constituted by two arms 24,25 which are pivotably connected to the pivot pin and which are resiliently connected to each other by cylindrical rollers 29 with the interposition of resilient members 30. The rollers 29 urged by the resilient members 30 secure themselves like wedges between the pivot pin 26 and ramps and ensure the immobilization against oscillations of the arm 25 on the pivot 26.
