1336570 Photographic materials ILFORD Ltd 21 Dec 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 60803/70 Heading G2C A photographic image is developed or aftertreated in the presence of a 1, 2,4-triazole-3- selenol (or water-soluble salt), 5,5'-bis(1,2,4- triazole-3-selenol) (or water-soluble salt) or bis (1,2,4-triazol-3-yl) diselenide. In the selenol, the 5-carbon atom carries hydrogen or an alkyl, aralkyl or heterocyclic group and one of the nitrogen atoms carries hydrogen or an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group. In the bis-selenol, the triazole rings are linked directly or via a methylene or ethylene group and one of the nitrogen atoms carries hydrogen or an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group. In the diselenide, the 5-carbon atom of each triazole ring carries hydrogen or an alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or hydroxy group and one of the nitrogen atoms of each triazole ring carries hydrogen or an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl group. The selenol, bis-selenol or diselenide may be present in the silver halide emulsion layer or an adjacent layer or in the developing, fixing or glazing liquid.
