Abstract
1336057 Electro-forming; nickel plating DAINI SEIKOSHA K K 30 Sept 1971 [15 June 1971] 45590/71 Heading C7B Electro-forming metal components of open channel cross-section comprises making a metal cast of the component, impressing the cast in a resin body 1 to produce a shaped recess 2, providing a conducting coating 4 on the walls of the recess and electro-depositing metal 9 on the coating. The component is removed and finished by grinding. Electrical connection is established via connector 3. The conductive coating may be vapour deposited silver. The resin may be a thermoplastic such as vinyl chloride, ABS, polyvinyl acetate, polyethylene, polypropylene or acrylic resin. For Ni the electrolyte is:- Nickel sulphamate 250g/litre Boronic acid 30g/litre Nickel chloride 5g/litre Sodium dodecyl-sulphamate 2À5g/litre Sodium 1, 3, 6-naphthalenetrisulphonate 2-5g/litre. The method is particularly suitable for making escapement wheels for watches.
