860,290. Electro-forming articles. PLATECRAFT OF AMERICA Inc. May 7, 1958 [July 19, 1957], No. 14588/58. Class 41. An article is produced by electro-deposition by forming a master, applying a coating over the master by simultaneously electro-depositing metal and settling additive particles on to the surface of the master while causing relative movement between the master and the electroplating bath, and thereafter removing the master. The relative movement may be brought about by rotating the master in the bath. The additives may be water-insoluble inorganic salts, metallic oxides, carbides or carbonates, abrasives or finely-divided metal. After applying the coating the master may be electrolytically provided with a further metal coating to provide a stress-free layer around the first coating. The master may be removed mechanically or by chemical attack. Specification 860,291 is referred to.
