Abstract
1332604 Casting processes INSTITUT ELEKTROSVARKI IMENI EO PATONA AKADEMII NAUK UKRAINSKOI SSR 2 April 1971 8585/71 Heading B3F In the production of hollow ingots by an electroslag remelting process, a tapered core 3 is extracted from the ingot while the latter is being built up and at a rate which enables the ingot to shrink without gripping the core. The core 3 is inserted into the mould 1 through an opening in the base-plate 2 and may be moved downwards with the mould held stationary, or the core, may be held stationary while the mould is moved upwards. Alternatively both the mould and core may be moved in the same direction at different rates, or in opposite directions. After stripping the ingot from the mould it is moved away together with the base-plate 2 on a truck 13.
