1423181 Apparatus for electroslag melting processes INSTITUT ELEKTROSVARKI IMENI EO PATONA AKADEMII NAUK UKRAINSKOI SSR 29 Aug 1973 40654/73 Heading B3F Apparatus for producing hollow ingots 5 by an electroslag remelting process comprises a mould 2, a vertically movable dummy bar 4, and a plurality of vessels 1 in which consumable electrodes 6 are melted, each vessel 1 communicating with the mould cavity through a conduit (3) in the upper portion of the mould wall. Non-consumable electrodes may be provided to assist in the heating of the slag 7, The molten metal 8 produced by the melting of the electrodes 6 flows from the vessels 1 into the mould cavity through the conduits (3), the ingot 5 produced being continuously withdrawn from the mould by lowering the dummy bar 4.
