Abstract

1331119 Grenades ETAB SALGAD 21 Dec 1970 [22 Dec 1969] 60582/70 Heading F3A A fin-stabilized grenade comprises, in the region of its maximum diameter, a guide band for bearing against the barrel wall of a launching weapon, the grenade having a length/maximum diameter ratio in the range 5À2-5À5, and a profile forward from the mid-line of the band to the nose and rearward to a point twice the maximum diameter, determined by the formula where r is the radius, c is Haak's gravitational constant and lies in the range 0À31 to 0À35, # = cos<SP>-1</SP> (1-2x), where x is a co-ordinate along the longitudinal axis of the grenade. The diameter at the rearward point lies within the range 0À38-0À45 D. Behind this point the profile is of ogival form and the diameter in front of the fins is 0À35 D. The diameter of a straight part behind the ogival part is less than D/2À8. The nose of the projectile may be cut-off leaving a circle whose diameter is less than D/2À8.
