Abstract
795,025. Ammunition. FORSVARETS FABRIKSSTYRELSE, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF May 22, 1956 [May 20, 1955; June 7, 1955], No. 15834/56. Class 9(1) A hollow charge projectile has a body 1 tapering from front to rear and containing an explosive charge 5 with a metal liner 6 in the forward cavity and an axial flash passage 10 communicating with a detonator 7. A cap 2 screwed on to the forward end has a flange 11 acting as a bearing surface when the projectile is placed in a gun or launcher, and a base closure 3 has a surface 12 of the same calibre as the flange 11. A tubular stabilizing tail 4 screwed to the base 3 abuts a compound driving band comprising an inner sliding band 17 with a radial flange 19 and an outer driving band 18 having a flange 20 to engage the rifling. The band 18 is also arranged to slip and the inner band may be of steel, while the outer is of copper. The band 17 may have inner and outer phosphatized surfaces, which may be impregnated with oil. Alternatively, the band 18 may be of porous compressible material, e.g. sintered iron, or a sintered iron alloy, which may be impregnated with oil, paraffin or colloidal graphite. The cap 2 has a surface 14 either parallel to, or forming an angle less than 30 degrees with, a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the projectile. Surface 14 is joined by a frusto-conical surface 15 to a tubular part 8 housing an impact fuze 9.
