Abstract

1314773 Air-gun projectiles VICTOR COMPTOMETER CORP 14 Jan 1971 1961/71 Heading F3A A 0À22 calibre projectile for cutting a well defined hole in a paper target when fired from an air-gun comprises, a cylindrical body 10 formed with triangular, forwardly-facing, serrations 12. The nose 14 of the projectile is defined by a flat circular portion 22 and a curved portion 26 whose radius is centred on the longitudinal axis of the projectile at the rear edge of the projectile. The projectile is hollow and carries a driving band 20 whose thickness is 0À0035 inch. The projectile is made of lead and has a length of 0À216 inch. The portion 22 of the projectile nose has a diameter of 0À06 inch or less than 1/3 of the calibre of the projectile whilst the length of the nose 14, as measured from the surface 22 to the edge of a shoulder 28, is 0À02 inch or less than 1/20 the length of the projectile. The radial width of the shoulder is 0À025 inch.
