Abstract

1,229,380. Mortar projectiles. TAMPELLA A.B. OY. 18 April, 1968 [27 April, 1967], No. 57420/69. Divided out of 1,228,027. Heading F3A. A mortar projectile 1 is provided in its body portion 2 with a plurality of longitudinally extending rectilinear grooves 3 over part of its length and projections formed by that part of the body portion 2 between the grooves 3, the projections determining the maximum diameter of the projectile. The grooves may have a maximum depth of 0À2 mm. to 2 mm. and have a cross-sectional area of between 1% and 3% of the total cross-sectional area of the maximum diameter portion of the projectile. The Specification also relates to the use of the above projectile with a mortar barrel.
