1330763 Grippers for weft inserters ADOLPH SAURER Ltd 28 May 1971 [4 June 1970] 17887/71 Heading D1E A weft inserting rod, single or double acting gripper shuttle has an inclined weft inserting face 3 with a bore 2 in which there is a rod 4, the weft, upon insertion movement, sliding up the face 3 and jamming in the bore 2 under the rod 4. The weft is held across the path of the inserted by a clamp from which it may be pulled by the inserter or which may open to release the weft. In the case of a gripper shuttle 8 the rod may be spring loaded and, at the end of picking, the shuttle may encounter an abutment 14 which moves the rod 4 against the action of the spring 10 so that the weft rides in a notch 13 and is released.
