1330757 Sanitary and hygienic devices D A L ASHFIELD 14 June 1972 [22 April 1971] 10770/71 Heading H4J A disposable earpiece cover comprises a loop of paper or other non-woven fibre fabric shirred or gathered in an elastic manner to provide apertures 3 on opposite sides of the cover. The cover comprises a strip of material simulating the feel of cloth and having good moisture absorbent properties. The strip is joined at its ends by a line of stitching 4 or by adhesive bonding. Two lines of stitching 2 using elastic or elasticated thread extend around the apertures 3. Alternatively, the elastic thread may be adhesively bonded to the strip. The elastic thread is either stretched to the desired extent, bonded to the strip and maintained under extension until the bonding is complete, or the strip is gathered mechanically to its reduced or shirred length and the elastic thread in unstretched form is bonded to the gathered fabric.
