Abstract
1330057 Discharge lamps PHILIPS LECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [25 Feb 1970] 22297/71 Heading H1D A U-shaped low-pressure sodium discharge lamp 22, Fig. 2, mounted within an outer envelope 21 is supported at its curved end by a rectangular frame member 7 which embraces both arms of the lamp and is located between limbs 2 and 3 of a continuous spring member which adjoins the outer envelope at 1, 4 and 5. The limbs 2 and 3 are joined by a cap member 6 which is bent rectangularly round the sealing pip 25 of the lamp. The frame 7 may be provided at each end with supporting springs (of which one 8 is shown in Fig. 2) adapted to contact the envelope 21. The entire locating member may be formed of leaf-spring material such as chromenickel steel strip 0À5 mm. thick and 5-7 mm. wide. The envelope may include a heat-reflecting shield 10 provided with a central aperture through which the cap 6 extends.
