Abstract
1,270,220. Alpha-numeric display lamps. RCA CORPORATION. 13 May, 1970 [13 May, 1969], No. 23202/70. Heading H1F. In an alpha-numeric display lamp comprising a plurality of filaments 29 mounted on a substrate 24, the substrate is held in spaced relation to the inside wall of the lamp envelope 82 by a pair of leaf springs 42. The springs preferably form the legs of a U-shaped sheet metal frame 40 which has bent tabs 56, 64, 66 to engage the edges of the substrate and tapered edges 74 to facilitate the insertion of the substrate and frame assembly into the envelope. In alternative arrangements the springs are separate from one another and pass through longitudinal slots adjacent the sides of the substrate (Fig. 5, not shown) or engage in spaced notches (96) in the edges (Fig. 6, not shown).
