A lamp fitting comprises a mounting ring 1 for attachment to a supporting surface such as a ceiling and a lamp housing 2 for insertion through the ring into a recess in the surface, the ring having one or more springs 7 adapted to engage a ridge or recess 13 in the housing to retain it in place.
