1494493 Lighting fittings THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 21 Feb 1975 [5 March 1974] 9887/74 Heading F4R A lamp-holder includes two heat sinks each comprising a bi-metallic strip 51, 52 having a lamp-contacting end 53, 54 for engagement with a lamp mounted in the holder, the lampcontacting ends being spaced apart, when the strips are cold, by a distance sufficient to allow insertion of the lamp into the holder and the bi-metallic strips being so arranged that, when they are heated by heat from the lamp, the lamp is clamped between the lamp-contacting ends. The lamp-contacting ends may be formed by metallic blocks mounted on the bi-metallic strips. The strips are preferably made of metal having a high nickel content and are preferably nickel-plated.
