1,098,604. Mounting electric lamps. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 18, 1966 [July 17, 1965], No. 30476/65. Heading F4R. An incandescent lamp, especially a tungsteniodine lamp having an envelope of fuzed silicon dioxide, e.g. quartz, with lead-in conductors passing through seals 5 at the ends is supported, e.g. in a reflector, by members 7 of high thermal conductivity which press on opposite faces of the seals and are connected by heat-transmitting members 10 to a heat sink 1 which may be a metal trough, plate, bar or grid and may be provided with a reflector. The members 10 may be formed of strands of metal wire braided, woven, plaited or similarly assembled. The members 7 may be carried by a pair of pivoted jaws 6 connected in closed position by a spring 8 pivoted to one of the jaws and having a hook co-operating with a lug 12 on the other. The lead-in conductors terminate beyond the area of contact with the members 7 in metal caps which engage in ceramic lampholders having internal contact elements.
