Abstract

1387332 Electric incandescent lamp GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 22 June 1973 [5 July 1972] 31531/72 Heading H1F In an electric incandescent lamp the filament is mounted in an aperture in a sheet metal support member, the member comprising an elongate main body with an integral projecting portion having the aperture at the junction of the body and the portion and being supported by the pinch closure of the lamp, the filament being clamped in place by folding over the projecting portion. In an embodiment, a twin-filament halogen lamp has three sheet molybdenum supports 5, 22, 29 which have apertures near projections 8, 9, 27, 29. The supports are held by an insulating bridge 21 and welded to molybdenum strips 18, 19, 20. A reflector 22 is mounted on support 5. In another embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown), the ends of some of the filaments are welded or clamped and not secured in apertures. In other embodiments single filament lamps having a single or double end, have their filament secured in apertures. The sheet metal supports may also be made of tungsten, nickel, nickelplated copper or iron.
