Abstract

1330002 Welding by fusion and pressure BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 22 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 19572/70 Heading B3R [Also in Division H2] An aluminium conductor of a cable 4 is terminated by fusion welding to the conductor end 5 the aluminium portion of a transition piece comprising lengths of aluminium 1 and copper 2 wire pressure welded together. The conductor has a cross-sectional area between 1 and 15 mm<SP>2</SP>, may be single- or multi-stranded and is connected to the transition piece by, e.g. gas fusion butt welding. The pressure welding may be effected by a cold welding process or driven friction welding.
