Abstract

1328899 Gas-fired radiant plate burner SAGARDUI SA 18 Oct 1971 [19 Oct 1970] 48266/71 Heading F4T A gas-fired radiant plate burner for a stove comprises a single pressing which forms a chamber 7 open at one face, a peripheral rebate 5 for supporting ceramic radiant elements 9 at that face of the chamber, and mounting means (flange 4) round the edges of the chamber for fixing it to the framework of a stove, the chamber 7 being divided into compartments 12, 13, 14 by partitions 10 which have lateral projections 11 arranged to support the radiant elements 9 in conjunction with the rebate 5, and means for supplying a gas/air mixture to the compartments. The compartments 12, 13, 14 are of different areas so that heat output may be varied by selective firing of the compartments. As shown, the middle compartment 13 is half the area of each of the two end ones 12 and 14. The supplying means comprise, for each compartment, a gas injector 1 directing gas into an oblique end of a diffusion tube 3 which leads into the compartment and is supported therein by a projection 8 of the chamber wall. The gas/air mixture issuing from the other oblique end of each tube 3, within the chamber 7, meets a deflecting plate 6 which causes turbulence to diffuse the mixture uniformly. The injectors 1 are mounted on a common support 2 attached to the ends of the tubes 3 externally of the chamber 7.
