Abstract
1327829 Image pick up tubes MATSUSHITA ELECTRONICS CORP 17 Sept 1971 [19 Sept 1970] 43539/71 Heading H1D A target assembly for a TV camera tube comprises face-plate 12, annular binding member 14 (e.g. In) pressure welded to the inner surface of the face-plate and one open end of tubular envelope 16, annular support member 20 supporting target substrate 22 and with a peripheral groove 26 combining with the binding member. Annular signal ring (28) (Fig. 3, not shown) caps the envelope and is secured thereto through electrically conductive adhesive (30), the signal ring being contacted at its inner surface to the peripheral wall of the binding member. The peripheral wall of the support member may be plated with indium or tin or an alloy of indium and tin to increase robustness of the weld, and the member is preferably fixed to the face-plate with water glass. Substrate 22 is preferably fixed to member 20 by an electrically conductive adhesive or solder (24) (Fig. 1, not shown). The binding member may be pressure welded, with or without simultaneous heating to assist deformation of binding member 14 commencing with the Fig. 1 arrangement, the binding member being welded hermetically with the faceplate, end 18 and also for instance, to the groove 26. Reference is made to readout of an optical input image by a scanning electron beam. Reference is included to Specification 1,327,830.
