Abstract
1327830 Image pick up tubes MATSUSHITA ELECTRONICS CORP 17 Sept 1971 [19 Sept 1970] 43540/71 Heading H1D A target assembly of TV camera tube includes transparent face-plate 12, a ring of binding member 16 of indium between and pressure welded both to the back surface of the face-plate and one end of the envelope, and annular support member 18 with its peripheral wall welded with the inner surface of the binding member, the support member supporting a target substrate 20 (e.g. monocrystalline Si). Annular signal ring 22 caps the end portion and the face-plate, the inner surface of the ring being at least partially electrically contacted with the peripheral wall of the binding member. Target substrate 20 may be secured to member 18 by an adhesive or low m.p. solder such as indium or tin (30) (Fig. 4, not shown) or by an inwardly bent end of member 18 and washer (32) (Fig. 5, not shown). Washer (32) is preferably of rippled construction to provide spring action. The outer surface of support member 18 may be plated with indium or tin or an alloy of indium and tin to increase robustness of the weld. Signal ring 22 may be fastened to envelope 14 by pressure welded indium or an adhesive agent at the time of fabrication of the assembly by pressure welding, or after member 18 is secured. Ring 22 preferably has masking portion 24 and services output terminal when readout of an optical image is effected by a scanning electron beam. The target substrate 20 may be placed after the pressure welding so as to avoid mechanical force or heat applied during fabrication. Substrate 20 is preferably perpendicular to the central axis of the envelope. Reference is included to Specification 1,327,829.
