Abstract

1324914 Cathode-ray tubes HEWLETTPACKARD CO 16 Sept 1971 [28 Sept 1970] 43231/71 Heading H1D In a cathode-ray tube a secondary emission structure intermediate the electron gun 34 and the screen 42 comprises a grid 38 or 40 provided with a dielectric coating 16 on the surface facing the gun 34, the dielectric being such as to emit secondary electrons and having a lattice energy greater than 1000 kcal./mole, and a collector electrode 39 or 41 on the electron gun side of the grid adjacent the grid and insulated therefrom. The grids 38 and 40 are respectively an expansion lens and a charge storage element. Suitable dielectric coatings are hafnium dioxide and thorium oxide.
