Abstract

1318443 Centrifugal pumps STENBERGFLYGT A B 26 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 41132/70 Heading F1C A motor-driven submersible pump comprises a pair of members 11, each in the form of a pin, stud or roller, co-operating with channel-section guides 10 during lowering or raising of the pump, the suspension eyebolt 2 being so located relative to the centre of gravity Tp that the pump hangs slightly obliquely. When the pump outlet 4 has reached the vicinity of the coupling unit 5 of the stationary discharge pipe, a projection 16 on the outlet comes into contact with a support 9. Thereafter, as it is lowered still further, the pump pivots about this contact until each member 11 comes against an inclined plane 13 of a stop 12. The point of contact 14 between the member 11 and the inclined plane 13 is at a distance a below the line of action of the force R exerted on the pump casing by the pump pressure, whereby the resultant clockwise torque on the pump casing presses the member 11 further downwards against the inclined plane to intensify the force pressing the self-aligning surfaces 7, 8 of the coupling unit 5 and outlet 4 into sealing engagement. In a modification the surfaces 7, 8 are transposed.
