Abstract
1,014,316. Gear pumps. O. ECKERLE. Oct. 8, 1962 [Oct. 6, 1961], No. 38003/62. Heading F1F. An internally meshing gear pump is provided with a fluid pressure loaded end plate 23 (Fig. 1) and a member 13 (Fig. 2) for urging the outer gear 12 against the inner gear 11. Communication between the outlet side of the pump and a recess in the side of the end plate 23 remote from the gears 13 provided by a ring of holes in a base plate 20 fixed to or integral with the outer gear, and by a bore in the end plate 23. The drive shaft 13 relieved at 25 to accommodate the inner edge of the base plate or, alternatively, the inner gear overhangs the shaft bearings and an aperture for the shaft 13 not needed in the base plate (Fig. 10, not shown). The member 13 is urged against the outer gear by a piston 14 subjected to delivery pressure and which has compression springs in bores 19. The member 13 provides the only external support for the outer gear. The end plate 2, to which a filler 1 is fixed, or pivotably mounted, may also be pressure loaded (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown), and is movable transversely of the shaft so that the filler lies against the outer gear.
