1315481 Furniture joints; cabinets HALLAM SLEIGH & CHESTON Ltd 11 June 1970 [11 March 1969] 12664/69 Headings A4B and A4H [Also in Division B8] A skeleton framework for a cabinet etc. comprises hollow frame bars 12a connected to form ring-like end frames 10a and hollow cross-bars 11a inter-connecting the end frames 10a, each frame bar 12a or 11a having a rectangular C-shaped channel section of extruded alloy with inturned flanges 14 defining an entrance slot 15. The end bars 12a are connected together in angular relationship by sheet-metal angle brackets 16a, 16b, 16c secured by bolts 17 and nuts 18, the heads of bolts 17 being slideably and non-rotatably engaged within the hollow interior of bars 12a. The cross-bars 11a are connected to the end bars 12a by separate two armed planar brackets 25a secured by nuts and bolts 18, 17; brackets 25a may overlap or underlie brackets 16 and be secured by the same bolts. End bars 12a have grooves (22a) Fig. 5, (not shown) to receive end panels 34 and outwardly projecting flanges (23) Fig.1, (not shown) and front, top and bottom panels 31 are secured by bolts passing through the base of the C-section of bars 12a and engaging nuts, the nuts or bolt heads being captive within the hollow channel interior. The nuts may be retained in the channel by spring clips or wedges. Stainless steel trim strips 33 have flanges fitting under panels 31. The cabinet may include a hinged door (30) Fig. 2, (not shown). The bolt holes in the brackets may be elongated to facilitate alignment.
