Abstract

1315301 Mast supports J A OLIVER 10 July 1970 [15 April 1969] 19178/69 Heading B7V A mast support for a sailing boat comprises a member which is plugged into the hub of the mast and is movable about horizontal pin 10 to lower the mast, and a spigot 9 which is pivoted to pin 10 and is journalled in a bush 13 secured to the keel of the boat so that the mast can swing about its longitudinal axis. Fig. 5 (not shown) illustrates a modification in which the mast is mounted in a tabernacle secured to spigot 9. The boom is attached to the mast by a coupling (e.g. of gooseneck form) which provides for horizontal movement of this boom relative to the mast.
