Abstract

1,097,258. Mooring for loading tankers. SHELL INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ, N.V. Jan. 4, 1965 [Jan. 7, 1964], No. 322/65. Heading B7S. [Also in Division E1]. A one point mooring system for loading fluids into a ship is arranged below the surface of a body of water and comprises a hollow cylindrical body 4 fixedly secured to the bottom of the body of water, a hollow annular body 16 so mounted on the cylindrical body 4 that it is rotatable about a vertical axis thereof, a first fluid line having one end which communicates by pipe 7 with the interior of cylindrical body 4 and its other end in communication with a fluid source, a second fluid line having one free end and another end which communicates by pipe 7<SP>1</SP> with the interior of annular body 16, an opening 19 interconnecting the cylindrical body 4 and the annular body 16 whereby the first fluid line is in communication with the second fluid line whilst the latter is allowed to swing around a vertical axis of the former. The second fluid line is constructed as part of lattice beam 22 incorporating buoyant bodies 32 so that it is free to be raised above the water surface for connection to the ship. A fastening device 9 is provided to which the ship can be secured.
