Abstract

1315146 Driving steerable wheels; vehicle spring suspensions SOC ANON AUTOMOBILES CITROEN 27 May 1970 [6 June 1969] 25467/70 Headings B7D and B7H A steerable wheel R has a drive transmitted thereto by shafting 10, 12, 14 including universal joints 11, 13, and an homokinetic joint 16 on the steering swivel axis 2 of the wheel hub 7, the shafts 10, 14 being retained in a parallel configuration and being non-colineal with shaft 12. Shaft 10 is rotatable in a bearing 9 of a king-pin carrier 3, the latter being supported from the chassis C by either equal, parallel wishbones 5a, 5b (Fig. 1) or a longitudinal suspension arm 20 (Fig. 4) pivoted about a transverse shaft 21. Shaft 12 may include a sliding joint 15. A practical construction is described (Fig. 3, not shown).
