Abstract
1313662 Deoxidising steel KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE HOOGOVENS EN STAALFABRIEKEN NV 22 June 1970 [23 June 1969] 30142/70 Heading C7D Rimming steel is deoxidised by introducing a powder deoxidant into the pouring stream, at least 50% of the powder passing through a 150 micron sieve but not through a 75 micron sieve and there being substantially no powder of grain size less than 40 micron or greater than 200 microns, the powder being substantially uniformly metered into the stream during at least 70% of the time of filling of the mould. The deoxidant may be aluminium in a stream of air at a rate of 1À9 to 2À2 gm/litre and 700-1200 gm of powder per minute, the gas speed being 40-60 metres/second.
