Abstract

1,186,299. Producing rimmed steel. JENNIFER CORP. Aug.7, 1968 [Oct.30, 1967] , No.37735/68. Heading C7D. Rimmed steel is produced by progressively adding iron carbonate 20 rimming agent to liquid steel while teeming the steel into an ingot mould. The iron carbonate may be used with one or more other known rimming agents, namely iron oxide, a fluoride-bearing rimming promoter and sodium carbonate, the iron carbonate amounting to at least 40% of the composition. Preferably 0À23- 1À40 kilograms of iron carbonate are used per 0À9 metric tons of steel.
