[Class 72] In the production of steel by the acid or basic Bessemer process in which the blow is stopped, the slag removed, a further quantity of dephosphorizing slag materials added and the blow finished, molten pig iron of high carbon content is added to the converter during the interruption of the blow. The pig iron may be poured through the first slag before it is removed or may be added after the removal of that slag or may be poured through the second slag before the second blow. Specification 492,740 is referred to.
