Abstract

107,770. Wust, F. July 5, 1917. Cast-iron processes.-In carrying out the Thomas process, a portion of the completely refined steel, being part of the completely converted product of a previous charge, is mixed with the total charge of pig-iron to be refined, after the slag has been removed from the previous charge in the usual way. The mixture may be effected by introducing the pig-iron into a portion of the refined charge left in the converter, or by mixing the refined steel and the pig-iron in a ladle. mixer, or other suitable vessel other than the converter.
