Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a steel corresponding to a rimmed steel without producing any bubble in a continuous casting process by desilicating molten iron, charging the same into a converter, and carrying out oxygen blowing and refining under stirring while adding a slagging agent then subjecting the same to disoxidation through Al addition. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel is desilicated, if necessary, in a manner that Si is kept at <=0.3%, and this is charged into a converter. Thence, oxygen blowing is carried out, and at a suitable time, refining under stirring is carried out while a slagging agent is being added. Thence, steel is tapped, to which Al is added and this steel is subjected to disoxidation, whereby the molten steel of <=70ppm free [O], <=0.020% T[Al], and un unavoidable content Si is made. If this molten steel is continuously cast, the ingot corresponding to a rimmed steel having no defects like pinholes is obtained at a high yield and high performance.
