Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably dephosphorize molten steel to about the same extent as that by a double slag method without an increase in the amount of slag making materials for dephsophorization and a decrease in the yield of produced steel by simultaneously charging a large amount of iron oxide type materials such as iron ore and scale at the stage when the concn. of C in the molten steel attains a specific range. CONSTITUTION:At the stage when the concn. of C in molten steel attains 3.0- 1.5% in an oxygen blowing process of a basic converter, >=10kg/t steel iron oxide type materials are charged simultaneously. Here, the reason for determining the upper limit for the concn. of C lies in that it is the point where slag making progresses usually and before this, dephosphorization is solid reaction and no effect is obtained. On the other hand, if it is below the lower limit, C is insufficient and a sufficient amount of CO is not produced, thus failing to effect sufficient stirring between slag and metal and to provide dephsophorization acceleration effect. If the amount of simultaneous charging is below the lower limit, it is not possible to keep the final phosphorus concn. stably at about <=0.010.
