Abstract

1,187,782. Reducing iron oxide. I. G. NIXON. March 9, 1967 [March 10, 1966], No. 52420/69. Divided out of 1,187, 781. Heading C7D. [Also in Division C1] Molten iron or iron alloy can be refined by reducing its sulphur content with hydrogen which is produced in the cracking zone during a process similar to that of the Specification 1,187,781, a fluctuating differential pressure head between the oxidizing and cracking zones causing the molten iron or ironalloy to flow to and fro between the two zones.
