Abstract
1381625 Float glass production VETRERIA DI VERNANTE SpA 17 April 1972 [16 April 1971] 17539/72 Heading C1M In the production of flat glass by the float process, the pouring end of the tunnel (14) has a pouring canal (1A) with a pouring lip 5 disposed transversely of the tunnel and spaced inwardly from the inlet end wall 20 of the tunnel and an element 13 is provided adjacent the end wall 20 and extending along the adjoining side walls, the element 13 having an inner contour including two surfaces symmetrical to each other about a plane extending through a peak 8 entering the heel of the molten glass and having two arcuate zones 9 connecting two substantially rectilinear size zones 11, 12 diverging and extending forwardly of the pouring lip 5. The element 13 is preferably of graphite and may be lubricated by a gas flow therethrough of non- oxidizing gas.
