Abstract

1310574 Porcelain; glazing composition NIPPON TOKI KK 10 March 1970 [10 March 1969] 11541/70 Headings C1J and C1M A porcelain body is made by mixing (a) plastic clay with (b) a mineralizing agent, e.g. zinc oxide, lithium fluoride, barium carbonate, calcium carbonate or zirconium oxide, and (c) a primary ingredient which is, or is capable of producing, a synthetic silicate and is capable of undergoing vitrification on firing, e.g. talc or a mixture of silica and alkaline earth metal oxide to form a plastic mass, of which at least 45 wt. per cent comprises the primary ingredient and at least 80 wt. per cent consists of particles with diameter less than 10 microns. The plastic mass is fixed to a biscuit, glazed and sintered at 1240 to 1350‹ C. Feldspar may also be incorporated in the plastic mass. The glaze comprises in wt. per cent based on dry wt.: SiO 2 65-75, Al 2 O 3 10-20, CaO, MgO or compound thereof 4-8, K 2 O, Na 2 O or a compound thereof 5-8.
