Abstract

1310138 Break-spinning, spindle drives SOC ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES DE MULHOUSE 27 July 1970 [4 Aug 1969] 36268/70 Heading DID In a break-spinning frame the spindles comprise a rotor 5, arranged below a fixed member 3, and mounted on an arm 6 pivoted on a rod 7 for movement from the operating position shown in Fig. 1 to an inspection position, Fig. 3 (not shown). The drive is through a step up belt 55 and pulleys 56 and 11. The pulley 56 is integral with a smaller pulley 57 which in the operating position engages a belt 54 running the length of the machine and in the inspection position engages a brake shoe 71, Fibres are admitted to the rotor via a nozzle 75 which is retained in the member 3 by spring loaded balls 81. The arm 6 is retained on the rod 7 by a spring clip consisting of an upper jaw 31 formed by the bent end of the arm and a springy lower jaw 32. The rotor 5 is mounted above a conical annular member 24 which engages a conical surface 27 of the member 3 via a seal 26. Both the rotor 5 and the composite pulley 56/57 run on ball races. The spindle is retained in the operating position by a spring clip 45 which engages a stud 48.
