Abstract
1309224 Silencing equipment for testing jet engines OSKAR GERBER GmbH 14 April 1971 9443/71 Heading FIB In an arrangement for the silencing of a jet engine of an aircraft when stationary on the ground, stationary sound absorbing walls are disposed around the engine, top edges of at least two walls 2, Fig. 2, being partly covered, so as to effect silencing, by a wing 8 of the aircraft, an exhaust silencer 6 being connected to a rear wall 3. The exhaust silencer 6 is connected to the wall 3 at an aperture 5 which is preceded by inclined deflectors 7. Intake noise radiated forward and sideways is attenuated by the side walls 2 and front walls 4. The walls 2, 3 comprise a frame 10, Fig. 3, covered on both sides by perforated metal plates 11 and a loose filling of mineral fibre 12. A sound-reflecting central partition 13 is mounted for vertical movement and is provided with padding 14 to seal it against the wing 8. The walls may instead comprise a sound-reflecting outer sldn on one side.
