In a haulage vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine and fitted with a carbon dioxide gas fire extinguisher, means are provided to supply carbon dioxide gas from the extinguisher to the vicinity of the engine air inlet in order to stop the engine should overspeeding occur. A tube extends from the extinguisher to a funnel opening adjacent the engine air filter.
