Abstract

1307528 Control of amplifier gain and frequency response HOWE RICHARDSON SCALE CO Ltd 4 June 1970 [5 June 1969] 28452/69 Heading H3T In an electronic amplifier having two amplifiers A1, A2 connected in series and interconnected by passive components, a first tuned adjustable resistor-fixed capacitor circuit RV1, C1 is connected to the input of the first amplifier A1 to independently control the low frequency gain, a second tuned adjustable resistor-fixed capacitor circuit RV2, C2, C3 is connected in a feedback path about the first amplifier A1 to independently control the high frequency gain, an adjustable resistor RV3 is connected between the output of the first amplifier A1 and the input of the second amplifier A2 to independently control the overall gain and a third tuned fixed resistor-fixed capacitor R1, C4 is connected in a feedback path about the second amplifier A2 to set a high frequency cut-off for the amplifier. The FET input stage TR1, TR2 ensures that the controller is centred about zero. A relay MAN/1 may be operated and the closed loop gain about the amplifier A1 is made constant so that the low and high frequency gains can be reduced to zero. This constant closed loop gain is equal to R3/R2. The amplifier may be manually operated by using input pin H so as to by-pass amplifier A1. The components of the amplifier may be mounted on a printed circuit board. The amplifier may be used in closed loop zero error sealing systems for controlling automatic weighing apparatus.
