Abstract
1,155,772. Automatic gain control in transistor circuits. DECCA Ltd. 14 May, 1968 [5 June, 1967], No. 25881/67. Heading H3T. In a multi-stage transistor amplifier which is resistance/capacitance coupled between stages and in which means are provided to vary in accordance with an automatic gain control signal the energization of a supply line 12 to which biasing resistors of each stage are connected, the arrangement is such that low frequency variations of the automatic gain control signal are communicated substantially equally to both sides of each coupling capacitor C3. In the embodiment, the collector load resistors R 2 and base biasing resistors R 3 are all connected to the common supply line 12, being separated by resistors R 4 , and the line 12 is fed from the output of a D.C. amplifier 17 fed from detector 15 via low-pass filter 16. A tuned stage 13 is interposed between the R/C coupled amplifier and the detector, the arrangement being intended as an I.F. amplifier and being such that instability due to phase-shifts around the loop circuit including the a.g.c. path is prevented.
