Abstract

1304055 Rope fittings BRITISH ROPES Ltd 18 May 1971 [9 June 1970] 27783/70 Heading D1T A rope or strand sheathed with elastomeric material is surrounded by a ferrule having teeth in the ferrule bore, the ferrule being compressed such that the teeth become embedded in the sheath. The ferrule may be compressed until the teeth engage the rope or strand. The teeth may be annular or in the form of a spiral. At least one of the teeth may be blunt. The teeth may be formed on the internal surface of a longitudinally slotted liner fitted within the bore of the ferrule, the liner being externally toothed. The invention is described with reference to couplers for joining two or more ropes or strands together, end terminals, and eyes.
