Abstract
1344375 End fittings for cables SHINKO WIRE CO Ltd 4 Aug 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 36677/71 Heading D1T [Also in Division El] A coil 1 of twisted wire of non-circular cross-section is positioned between a relieved sleeve 3 and a cable 2 and the sleeve 3 deformed within the range 10-30% reduction to anchor the sleeve to the cable, the sleeve being of a length that is originally at least twice the diameter of the cable. By the term "relieved sleeve" is meant a sleeve having a portion of reduced-cross section. The sleeve 3 may press against an anchor plate (7), Fig. 4 (not shown) engaging a concrete mass through which the cable 2 extends. The sleeve 3 may be shaped at the end that is initially slid over the cable by (a) tapering said end as at 5 in Fig. 3; (b) forming a peripheral groove around said end; (c) outwardly flaring said end. Fig. 10 (not shown) shows a single sleeve (8) with a plurality of bores, each bore housing a cable 2 surrounded by a coil 1. The cables 2 extend through concrete (9) and there is a plate (7) between the concrete and the sleeve (8). Fig. 11 (not shown) shows a single plate (7) against which press a plurality of sleeves 3, each sleeve housing a cable surrounded by a coil 1.
