Abstract

1,249,352. Rope clamps. J. F. CESARINI. 6 Dec., 1968 [6 Dec., 1967], No. 58036/68. Heading D1T. An initially cylindrical metal tube is deformed, onto a cable extending into the tube, by means of press jaws that impart a polygonal configuration to the outer surface of the clamp. Fig. 2 shows press jaws 4, 5 that are about to deform the tube 3 to hexagonal cross section. The tube 3 may have internal serrations. There may be a sleeve of material softer than that of the tube 3 interposed between the tube 3 and the cable 2. Inserts (8), Fig. 6 (not shown), of a material softer than that forming the strands of the cable may be interposed between the cable strands. The press jaws 4, 5 may be so shaped that they shape part of the tube 3 into an externally screw-threaded cylinder.
