Abstract

1,219,579. Anchoring wires. P. S. C. EQUIPMENT Ltd. 29 April, 1968 [8 May 1967], No. 21202/67. Heading D1T. An anchorage device for wire rope, strands or rods 12 comprises an internally tapered housing 1, a deformable tapered bush 4 having a slit 7 at its tapered end and a deformable sleeve 9 surrounding the wire and fitting within a bore in the bush 4. The device is assembled by fitting the housing 1, the bush 4 and the sleeve 9 onto the wire, swaging the sleeve and the non-tapered part of the bush onto the wire, then fitting the bush into the housing so that the unswaged part of the sleeve will also grip the wire, There may be two slits in the bush. The sleeve may be longitudinally split and have internal teeth angled away from the tapered end of the bush. The housing 1 may have the same number of tapered holes as the number of strands in a tendon which it anchors, each strand being gripped in a hole, see Fig. 7, not shown. The device may be used in coupling two tendons, the housings being joined by a coupling cylinder, see Fig. 9, not shown.
